Synopsis
Three women talk about the difficulty they have in recovering from their last breakup. Inès no longer believes in love; Camille awaits her ex’s return; Catherine has a hard time trusting again. Between experimental and documentary film, Marking the ends translates in sound and images the emotional and intimate experience of loss, casting doubt on the belief that all wounds heal over time.

Biography
Mireille took her first steps as a director with the short experimental documentary, Marquer les fins. A multidisciplinary artist, she works in the theater as an author, performer and cultural mediator. She recently appeared at the Duceppe Theater in Nathalie Doummar's play Mama. In 2019, she will be creating DM-moi, an interactive media arts tour at the Bibliothèque du Boisé, with a group of teenagers from Montreal's St-Laurent district.
Director's statement
Nine years after a difficult break up, I realized that this experience still had an effect on my life and my ability to engage in love. I wanted to understand why breakups can have such a lasting effect on people and why it is still one of the leading causes of suicide. I published a call for participations on social media to share these questions with other people. I felt the urge to make a film with three of the interviewees.
