Synopsis

In a cozy house in the heart of a village, men and women struggling with their limits live wrapped up in a well-ordered routine. Between the wooden slats of the interior walls, the outside life creeps in, like a parallel universe observed from afar by the residents.

Biography

A native of Quebec City, Christian Mathieu first studied film before becoming a Director of Photography in Montreal. He then turned to directing, which allowed him to explore the relationship between people and the land. Driven by a real desire to establish a relationship of trust prior to filming, he invests himself in the human relationship with his characters and their truth. His films have been selected in numerous festivals and have earned him several awards in Quebec and abroad.
In this experimental film, award-winning filmmaker Christian draws freely on Samuel Beckett’s play Waiting for Godot and the pictorial work of Edward Hopper.

In this experimental film, award-winning filmmaker Christian Mathieu Fournier draws freely on Samuel Beckett’s play Waiting for Godot and the pictorial work of Edward Hopper. Waiting for Casimir is marked by time: time that passes and time that stops despite the continuous swinging of the clocks.
