Biography

Graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Cinema from UQAM with a specialization in cinematography, Alicia Angélil-Danis works between directing and cinematography. In 2023, she signed the cinematography for the short film "L'écho des vagues", then directed her first short film "Nas domov", a documentary portrait of Betka, a non-binary person in search of a new cocoon where they find refuge and belonging. Passionate about humanity and driven by a strong attraction to documentary cinema, she develops an intimate visual language nourished by her photographic practice as well as sensitive and authentic filmmaking.

Manuel Orhy Piron is a filmmaker based in Montreal. He holds a certificate in screenwriting and a bachelor's degree in cinema from UQAM University. Completed in 2024, "Retracing their steps" is his first documentary film and earned him the Soirée de la relève Radio-Canada award. Touched by social and LGBTQ+ themes, his point of view is intended to be sensitive and amusing.
