Director's statement
No one wants to leave their country, their family, or their friends. People flee war, seek to improve their circumstances, or feel the need to start over. Immigration is a rich and positive experience, both for the immigrant and for the society that welcomes them. However, the obstacles to integration — and even to coexistence — are numerous. Employment discrimination is a well-documented challenge. When your name is Rabah or Mohammed, your résumé attracts significantly less interest from employers. The consequences of this exclusion can sometimes be tragic for newcomers. Without access to employment, they often face economic stress and social isolation.
