Synopsis

From Norman McLaren to the Grands Ballets Canadiens to Igor Stravinsky and the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Vincent Warren has made history. Inhabited by the importance of culture in a society, he has worked all his life as a 'beauty wearer'. His most important legacy is certainly the Vincent Warren Dance Library, the largest library of its kind in Canada.

An unconditional lover of Montreal, this American of origin has been admired dancer, respected teacher and dance historian and finally, exceptional curator. To tell the story of this man is to honor an important part of our history while celebrating the beauty of dance and the strength of culture.

Biography

Marie Brodeur has a background in visual art, dance, theater and video art. Graduate of Visual Arts at the Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf in Montreal, she studied with many visual and stage artists such as Irene Whittome, Gilles Maheu, Linda Rabbin, Jean Asselin and Merce Cunningham. Jean-Pierre Perrault. After a 10-year career in modern ballet in Canada, the United States and Europe, Marie began her career as a documentary, fiction and art director in 1986. On two occasions, his films have been awarded by UNESCO for their outstanding contribution to the conservation of world culturaal heritage. In addition to her accomplishments, she also sits on advisory committees for the NFB, the Canada Council for the Arts, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, the European Nurseries and on boards of directors such as PRIM and Rendez-vous. from Quebec Cinema. Many of his works are part of the permanent collections of prestigious institutions such as the Lincoln Center Performing Arts Library in New York and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Montreal.
