Synopsis

When Felix returns home, he realizes that his mother has put their house up for sale. In the evening, the memories of a bygone era come alive and reappear in the darkness of the corridors, crawling down the stairs like threatening ghosts.

Biography

Born in Quebec, raised in Talloires, France, on the shores of Lake Annecy, Antoine Foley-Dupont studied at Cegep Garneau and Sinished a BAC in Silm production at Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema. He is now working as an independant artist.

Director's statement

Paper Stairs deals with the both immutable and precarious nature of life. There are things that we become attached to, they become extremely precious to us, and sometimes circumstances force us to part with them, to forget them. It is in one of these situations that the character of Félix is found. Confronted with the loss of his childhood home, which he associates with his memories, with his identity, he will have to overcome the bad feelings that beset him in order to grow from this experience, to accept the decision of his mother who, now alone in this large suburban house, feels trapped in all the memories and would like to offer herself a new life focused on the future rather than living forever in their past.
