Biography

Independent screenwriter and director since 1973 and co-founder of the Vidéo Femmes group, Helen Doyle founded her own production company, Tatouages de la mémoire, in 2000. In 2008, she received the first Film Career Grant from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ). Her latest documentary Dans un océan d'images (2013) won a Étoile* from SCAM. In 2015, the book/coffret dedicated to her work, La Liberté de voir - Helen Doyle cinéaste, was published.

As with all my documentaries - and this one in particular - there is no question of voyeurism, sensationalism or victimization. I am committed to preserving the dignity and integrity of those involved. Furthermore, I will ensure that the anonymity of the children participating in this documentary is protected.
