Mot de la réalisatrice
Cerises au marasquin” is a film inspired by a short play written by Laurent Marion and Maude Lafond during our studies at the “Conservatoire d’art dramatique de Québec”. The themes of the cinematic adaptation are influenced by quebec’s realities in certain regions : the me too movement, the housing crisis and the lack of resources for people living financial precariousness.
During the production, it was important for me to stay close from reality as being raw and concrete. My main motivation for the direction was to make sure we stayed true to the character’s emotions as well as the realism for the decor.
