Synopsis

"I do not regret," said Vivianne Gauthier sitting on the bed of her room where she has been sleeping for more than eighty years. A singular, strong, disciplined and energetic woman, this choreographer and dance teacher led her life as she saw fit then marking the cultural history of her country Haiti. This film offers an overview of his life through the visit of his house, a "Gingerbread House" where every nook is full of memories. Here is the portrait of an endearing woman demonstrating a face of Haiti that we know too little.

Biography

Before focusing on documentary, Marie-Claude Fournier worked for more than ten years in the television world, invested photography and traveled for more than a year from Europe to Asia. Following his stint in the documentary production program at L'inis in 2010, several of his short documentaries are selected at international festivals. Recipient of Fonds TV5 2012, she produced and co-produced the webdocumentary MY STATES * NORDIQUES, a TV5 Québec coproduction and Productions Pied-de-Biche. The work was awarded the Gémeau prize for the best interactive documentary produced for the web in 2013. In 2014, again with its collaborator Anne Laguë, she won a CALQ grant for the short documentary Femme Centaure presented on the site. Marie-Claude Fournier also devotes part of her time to cultural mediation by collaborating with Wapikoni Mobile and RIDM, among others. It was during such a collaboration with the organization Projet Harmonie that she produced the feature film The Hold Up of My Freedom, which deals with teenage crime. In the fall of 2014, Marie-Claude left Quebec again to work several months in the professional department of the Cine Institute in Jacmel, Haiti where she mentored through the realization of corporate projects. Versatile, his various professional activities always bring him to meet people and heterogeneous backgrounds, his first source of motivation.
